Why shitecoin?
Good question. The answer isn't.
Flounders had a get together in Dublin on the evening of 6th November 2014 at the www.drurybuildings.com, Dublin 2. On that day BTC was priced at USD352.97. Shitecoin was launched at €0.01 (USD 0.011) This was my first experience of Flounders, although it's apparently legendary. The get together followed the end of the Websummit 2014 (4-6 November) ably pulled together by Paddy Cosgrove once again.
For more on the history of Flounders see Will Prendergast's (@wilp) blog here
During the banter (roasting actually) of @marklittlenews, @paulhayesman, @patphelan and @noeltoolan, the search by this panel for the worst start-up pitch got underway. In the throes of chat, up came the suggestion of shitcoin. Unfortunately that .com was registered back in August 2013. The next best thing - with an Irish angle of course - was shitecoin. Thus a new era in digital currency craptography was born. The future is brite, the future is shite with shitecoin
As I was slagged off during the panel session, this site is both my retribution to the panel and my thanks to the following sugar daddies and mummies who paid the bar tab - @hidaire @ianlucey @Karlbroph @lauriemannix @GarrettSCassidy @Gavinbourke @WebSummitHQ @LuceyFund @ThisisRedFlag @MKCComm @circlebits and @Gavinbourke
And thanks to @GarrettSCassidy for the creative input on the site too! The domain was registered and the site was built on a smartphone live during the panel session. Knocked up by @oakeslaw and @fintechireland
Twitter Account = @shitecoin (but why bother?)
[let me know if I need to make any edits or acknowledgements]
And if you think this website is legitimate, then you're the one who is shite.
